Report To OSP Planning & GIS Manager
Main Job Purpose:
The main purpose of this Job is to contribute to planning and designing fiber optic networks to support Sudani’s
fixed access, transmission, and national infrastructure growth. The role delivers deployment-ready OSP designs,
drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates in compliance with approved standards and quality
requirements. Through professional judgment, field analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, the role ensures
technically sound, cost-effective, and reliable fiber network expansion.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1- Develop detailed OSP network plans for city, intercity, and fixed-access fiber projects in line with
approved technical standards and network architecture principles.
2- Design and document external network layouts using GIS, AutoCAD, and geospatial tools, translating
planning concepts into constructible technical drawings.
3- Analyze site surveys, terrain conditions, and right-of-way constraints to determine optimal fiber
routes and infrastructure configurations.
4- Prepare detailed BOQs and cost estimates based on approved designs, material requirements, and
implementation methodologies.
5- Develop technical scopes and specifications for OSP materials, fiber cables, accessories, and network
components used in deployment and maintenance.
6- Contribute to defining project scope, timelines, quality parameters, and resource requirements in
coordination with planning and deployment stakeholders.
7- Contribute technical inputs to tender documents, drawings, and specifications, and participate in
reviewing technical submissions from vendors and contractors.
8- Review construction inputs and update As‑Built drawings, GIS records, and technical databases to
reflect completed network deployments.
9- Monitor fiber cable and accessory utilization data and support inventory planning through technical
validation of material usage.
10- Research developments in fiber optics, OSP deployment techniques, and fixed network
technologies, and contribute insights to planning practices.
11- Collaborate with deployment, operations, GIS, and transmission teams to resolve design
clarifications and support execution readiness.
12- Contribute technical expertise and practical insights to colleagues through reviews, discussions, and
informal guidance.
Behavioral Competencies:
1- Communication: Conveys technical information clearly and accurately through written
documentation and verbal discussion, supporting effective planning, coordination, and execution.
2- Analytical Thinking: Interprets technical data, survey findings, and cost inputs to validate
assumptions and inform sound planning decisions.
3- Complex Problem Solving: Analyzes design, routing, and field‑related challenges to identify practical
technical solutions using professional judgment and engineering standards.
4- Collaboration: Works constructively with cross‑functional teams to exchange information, resolve
dependencies, and achieve shared technical objectives.
5- Proactivity: Anticipates design risks, data gaps, and execution challenges and takes early action to
address issues without waiting for direction.

project execution, cost control, and network quality objectives .
Technical Competencies:
1- OSP Network Planning & Design: Applies professional knowledge of fiber optic and fixed network
architectures to plan and design external network layouts that are scalable, deployable, and aligned
with technical standards.
2- GIS & Engineering Design Tools: Uses GIS systems, AutoCAD, and geospatial tools to develop,
document, and maintain accurate OSP designs and spatial network data.
3- Field Survey Analysis & Route Optimization: Analyzes field survey data, terrain constraints, and site
conditions to determine optimal fiber routes and infrastructure configurations.
4- Cost Estimation & BOQ Development: Develops detailed bills of quantities and cost estimates based
on approved designs, material requirements, and construction methodologies.
5- Technical Specifications & Materials Knowledge: Develops and applies technical specifications for
fiber cables, accessories, and OSP components, informed by industry standards and operational
requirements .
6- As‑Built Documentation & Asset Data Management: Reviews construction inputs and updates
As‑Built drawings, GIS records, and technical databases to reflect completed network deployments.
