Main Job Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to develop and manage Sudatel’s backbone and submarine network
solutions, ensuring alignment with business and strategic objectives. Conduct comprehensive planning
and vendor management, while supporting operations and tracking technology innovations. Ensure final
deliverables meet performance, capacity, and business requirements.
Duties & responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage solutions for Sudatel Backbone and submarine networks and work with
an international consortium to build Sudatel strategic plans for global and submarine
connectivity.
2. Develop and manage DWDM solutions that establish Sudatel onward connectivity with
neighboring countries.
3. Develop and manage backbone DWDM solutions aligned with Sudatel business needs and
strategies in the MBB and FBB.
4. Develop and manage Sudatel backbone fiber solutions and ensure that existing fiber
rehabilitation and new coverage needs are well addressed.
5. Conduct end-to-end planning process including requirements collections, RFI, RFP, offers
evaluation, negotiation, contracting, handover to PMO, and delivery tracing for all domains
under responsibility.
6. Develop technology plans for the Sudatel submarine, backbone fiber, and DWDM domains,
and ensure that these plans are aligned and meet the business and strategy objectives.
7. Develop fiber technology master plans determining the technology roadmap, the vendor
strategies, the estimated investments, the delivery programs and projects, and the business
and network situation view before and after the master plan.
8. Develop and submit necessary documents to get solution approvals per organization policy.
9. Develop and negotiate technical proposals and offers for wholesale requirements.
10.Develop SLAs required for wholesales and ensure that these SLAs are aligned with Sudatel
network KPIs and business objectives.
11.Develop and update technical specifications for Sudatel fiber and optical technologies that
may lay under responsibility.
12. Ensure the finally delivered designs and solutions meet performance, capacity, operability,
and other pre-stated requirements.
13. Ensure the solution’s final deliverables meet the set objectives.
14.Conduct professional vendor management during the planning process to ensure the
confidentiality of Sudatel properties.
15. Support Re-Planning of pre-existing resources or running projects to ensure best utilization.
16. Keep Tracking of Inventory and network utilization.
17.Coordinating with different teams & sections for the effective realization of Services.
18. Provide support to operations and service assurance on critical issues.
19. Tracking technology innovations and state-of-the-art solutions, trends, and vendors’ product
roadmap to enhance the delivery of new technologies into the Sudatel network.
20.Develop yearly CAPEX Budget for DWDM & Submarine networks.
21. Keep tracking the status of network components SW& HW releases, features &license issues
(EOS, EOM, EOL, etc…)

Technical Competencies

2. DWDM Technology: In-depth knowledge of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM)
solutions and their implementation.
3. Fiber Optic Technology: Knowledge of Fiber Optic standards, specifications, and applications.
4. Submarine Systems and Technologies: In-depth knowledge of submarine systems and
technologies, innovation, and working structure.
5. Optical Transmission Systems: Expertise in network management systems, NMS, DCN,
synchronization, network topologies, and main characteristics and services.
6. Fiber to the Home/Premises/BTS: Knowledge of fiber to the home (FTTH), fiber to the premises
(FTTP), and base transceiver station (BTS) technologies.
7. IDCL and Data Processing Tools: Proficiency in IDCL (Integrated Data Collection and Logging)
and tools required for data processing and analysis.
Qualifications required:
Education:
▪ A bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering, electronics, or electronics.
Experience:
▪ 8 years’ experience in optical technology planning, preferably in DWDM and submarine systems.
Languages:
▪ Fluent in English/Arabic (Written& Spoken)
