Main Job Purpose:
The primary objective of this role is to oversee and ensure the reliable performance of diesel generators
that sustain critical network infrastructure. This role involves optimizing preventive and corrective
maintenance programs, overseeing overhauling and rehabilitation activities across different generator
brands and capacities, and providing technical guidance to field teams. Additionally, coordinate the
acceptance and commissioning of new generators, troubleshoots mechanical issues with precision using
specialized tools, and maintains effective spare parts and inventory control.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Oversee preventive maintenance (PM) and routine service activities for diesel generators of various
brands and capacities, ensuring reliable performance and adherence to technical standards.
2. Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical faults using advanced troubleshooting
techniques and OWS tools to restore generator performance efficiently.
3. Direct and coordinate full overhauling and rehabilitation operations, including dismantling,
inspection, reassembly, and testing, ensuring all work complies with OEM specifications and safety
guidelines.
4. Conduct and validate acceptance tests for newly acquired or rehabilitated generators, confirming
compliance with performance, quality, and commissioning standards.
5. Evaluate and approve mechanical spare parts through detailed inspections to ensure technical
compatibility, quality, and alignment with operational requirements.
6. Provide advanced technical support to planning, deployment, field operations, administration, and
customer-facing teams to ensure uninterrupted network power readiness.
7. Coordinate rapid-response support for critical network backbone and main sites across regions,
addressing generator-related incidents with efficiency and technical precision.
8. Optimize and allocate power resources and generator assets by applying engineering expertise to
improve equipment utilization, reduce wastage, and support operational efficiency.
9. Ensure the expert and safe application of mechanical tools, diagnostic devices, and workshop
equipment to maintain, repair, and rehabilitate generators to the highest quality standards.
10. Oversee and control the end-to-end spare parts lifecycle, including forecasting, inventory
management, quality checks, and consumption tracking.
11. Contribute to the outsourcing and repair contracts, evaluating vendor performance, technical
outputs, and adherence to service agreements.
12. Conduct technical audits across generator-powered sites, identify operational risks or deficiencies,
and implement immediate corrective actions to protect network availability.
13. Support OPEX management by analyzing operational expenses, identifying saving opportunities, and
implementing measures that optimize resource utilization.
14. Review, refine, and enforce maintenance procedures to enhance quality, safety, cost-effectiveness,
and reduce generator downtime.
15. Coach, and evaluate technicians, ensuring proper execution of maintenance tasks, compliance with
standards, and continuous improvement in team performance.

implementing preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.

Qualifications:
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a closely
related engineering field.
Experience
2-3 years of experience in diesel generator maintenance, overhauling, troubleshooting, or
mechanical workshop operations.
Certificates
OEM Diesel Generator Training (Perkins / Cummins / Caterpillar) | NEBOSH or OSHA Safety
Certification is preferred.
Language Excellence in English language (Written & Spoken).
